Not worried about the D yet. The Peg and Ottawa games were not typical. Every team lays an egg (defensively) every once in a while. If MAF played last night, no way they give up 8.....still probably would have lost, but Theissen was real bad.
My two things....
I hate the PP. Too many cooks in the kitchen. They over-extend and are ripe for shorties. Sullivan was brought in to help on the PP, which he did, now he gets 20 seconds.....if that. When Sid and Malkin stay out for practically the full two minutes, it screws up the next several shifts and line combos. I'm a little surprised Bylsma doesn't have a better handle on this....
The 4th line clearly misses Vitale. The guy is one little ball of energy. Without him, they are not nearly as effective with zone time.

John Toperzer: GAMEDAY! Penguins Devils Pens look to bounce back
The Penguins look to get back into the Atlantic Division race with a win over NJ Sunday night. - the-mitch-wilsons
Should be a good one.
Devils dominated Friday's game but Reimer stood on his head. On the flip side, the Devils gave off some pretty high quality opportunities and Marty had to come through, even though we only allowed 17 shots.
Nevertheless, the Devils changed their line combinations and have separated Parise from Kovalchuk for the first time since Oct 25 in San Jose.
The Devils lines should look like this for tonight:
Parise-Elias-Zubrus
Poni-Zajac-Kovalchuk
Sykora-Henrique-Clarkson
Carter-Josefson-Berner/Boulton |

need a good bounce back tonight.

If you ever need line combinations, go to Fire and Ice blog by Tom Guilitti.
Also, Volchenkov is questionable for tonight, and if he doesn't play Taormina, will play in his place. In addition, these are the defense pairings, with Taormina/Volchenkov in depending who plays...
Andy Greene-Mark Fayne; Bryce Salvador-Marek Zidlicky; Matt Taormina-Adam Larsson.
EDIT: And for future reference, it's Patrik Elias, not Patrick. There's no "C" on Patrik's sweater anymore. |
